August Eve - Full Moon in Aquarius

For the lovely full moon on the 31st July, me and a couple of friends went down to the beach to build a bonfire. We were collecting twigs as the sun set, and started contructing our bonfire just as the moon was rising over the sea. Our attempts to make fire weren't all that successful but it was fun. We burnt herbs on the fire, and the scented smoke wafted around us. The moon was hanging low over the sea, casting a glittery trail of light toward us. We waded into the waves with our containers to collect the sparkly moon water. I filled a large glass jar full of warm water that had been heated by the sun during the day. The sky was quite dark by this point, and we decided to draw oracle and tarot cards by the light of the moon. We were using Destiny's Portal oracle cards and the Tarot of the Hidden Realm. We were all amazed as we read the cards, they were so accurate. I drew the cards "Renaissance Rose" and "Fairy Stallion" which reflected my situatio...

Death - Thirteen

Tarot of Marseilles Thirteen, that dreaded number, is considered unlucky by many, but why? The number is associated with the moon in all cultures, because there are approximately 12.4 lunations per solar year. This means that there are always twelve lunations in a year, from which we derive our twelve months, but there is one lunation which straddles the old year and the new year. Thirteen therefore represents an inbetween time. In the Anglo-Saxon calendar, the number of full moons was counted from winter solstice to winter solstice. Most of the time there would be twelve full moon but sometimes there would be thirteen. If there were thirteen then an extra month of the year was inserted at the time of the summer solstice, making the summer a whole month longer than usual. The Summerland is a concept of an afterlife paradise where good souls live inbetween incarnations. This concept was devised in the 19th century by a Spiritualist called Andrew Jackson Davis. The concept of a Summ...

Turning Over a New Leaf

So, I am settling into the new home, and realising the internet connection here is just awful, compared to what I'm used to. Hopefully I can do something about that. It just makes it very hard to watch or upload videos. Perhaps this just means that I should watch/upload less! My new bedroom is primarily yellow, which is nice. Me and mum went and bought some long thick yellow/gold curtains for the bay windows. I'm hoping this will keep some noise and cold out. I'm surprised the heating actually works pretty well, considering it's a really old place with high ceilings and drafty windows. I'm slightly off the highstreet now, so it's not quite as noisy, but it's still fairly busy. I'm no longer living with my boyfriend, so my evenings are pretty solitary. I've just returned from a wedding in Newcastle, which was both lovely and sad. It was great to see my family and celebrate a wonderful relationship, but sad to realise that my own relationship is ...

Turning the Wheel

This is just to let you know that you probably won't hear a lot from me over the next week or so. This is because I'm in the process of moving home. It's odd, I've been saying this all year, that I felt November Eve would be a big transition for me, with major changes in my life, and the closer I get to it, the more my life seems to be up in the air. It happens to be that my birthday is in early November, so this time of year is always a transition from one year to the next for me. It's at times like this that I think of our dark lord. Charge of the God, by Janet and Stewart Farrar  Listen to the words of the Great Father, Who of old was called Osiris, Adonis, Zeus, Thor, Pan, Cernunnos, Herne, Lugh, and by many other names: My Law is Harmony with all things. Mine is the secret that opens the gates of life and mine is the dish of salt of the Earth that is the body of Cernunnos, the eternal circle of rebirth. I give the knowledge of life ...

Preparing for Autumn Equinox

The Sabbat of the Autumn Equinox is often referred to as Mabon by Wiccans, but why?  There is no ancient festival of this name, rather the festival of Mabon is a 20th century invention. It is named after a prominent figure in Arthurian mythology. Mabon is the son of Modron and a member of Arthur's war band. Before the Arthurian legends were written, Mabon and Modron were probably worshipped as deities in pre-Christian Wales. In Arthurian mythology, Mabon is an exalted prisoner who was stolen from his mother's arms when he was just three nights old. Arthur asks the oldest wisest animal, the salmon of Llyn Llyw, where he might find Mabon. The salmon carries Arthur and his men downstream to the prison in Gloucester, where Mabon can be heard singing a lamentation for his fate. Arthur and his men set about rescuing Mabon from the prison so that he can assist them in the hunt for Twrch Trwyth. Mabon is heralded as a "servant to Uther Pendragon". On the continent he is known...
